Teaching & LearningNearly 20 years in sociology

Sociology, inquiry, and inclusive learning.

I teach sociology as a way to ask better questions about everyday life, understand how social structures shape our experiences, and connect ideas with the world around us. My approach combines clear explanations, real-world examples, and room to explore, with attention to the different experiences and perspectives students bring with them.

01 / My approach

How I teach, in three parts.

01

Make complex ideas approachable

I break sociological concepts down and connect them to familiar situations, so students can move between theory and practice.

02

Learn through inquiry

I guide students as they explore questions, examine assumptions, and build their own understanding of social life.

03

Use technology with purpose

I use technology to create chances for connection and participation, with inclusion and diverse perspectives guiding how it is used.

02 / Teaching in practice

What it looks like in the classroom.
